Creating a New Free Time Policy

Creating a free time policy in Portmasters allows you to set up interval-based pricing for different container sizes.

Step-by-step process

  1. Navigate to the Manage section and click on the Free time tab.
  2. Click the + New Free Time button in the top right corner.
  3. The New Free Time dialog will appear.

Required fields

Free time’s name

  • Enter a descriptive name for this free time policy.
  • Common naming conventions include service type, port, or policy identifier.
  • Examples: F10 Export, Standard Import Free Time, Hamburg Free Days.
  • This name will help you identify and reference the policy.

Interval configuration

The free time policy is structured with up to 5 time intervals, each with specific pricing for different container sizes. For each interval row (#1 through #5):

# (Interval number)

  • Pre-numbered rows from 1 to 5.
  • Allows you to define up to 5 pricing tiers.
  • You can use as many or as few intervals as needed.

Interval start

  • Enter the starting day for this pricing interval.
  • Measured in days from the container availability date.
  • Examples: 0, 11, 21, 31, 41.

Interval end

  • Enter the ending day for this pricing interval.
  • Measured in days from the container availability date.
  • Examples: 10, 20, 30, 40, 50.

Interval 20’ price

  • Enter the daily charge (in dollars) for 20-foot containers during this interval.
  • Set to 0 for free periods.
  • Pricing typically increases with each interval.
  • Examples: $0, $21, $42, $70, $100.

Interval 40’ price

  • Enter the daily charge (in dollars) for 40-foot containers during this interval.
  • Set to 0 for free periods.
  • Typically higher than 20’ container pricing.
  • Examples: $0, $42, $60, $100, $140.

Note
You must define at least one interval. Additional intervals are optional but allow for more sophisticated tiered pricing structures.
