Vessel and Voyage Connection

Vessels work in conjunction with Voyages in Portmasters.

How vessels and voyages relate

• Vessels represent the physical ships.
• Voyages represent specific scheduled sailings of those vessels.
• When creating a voyage, you select a vessel from the registered vessel list.
• One vessel can have multiple voyages (different departure dates and voyage IDs).
• This separation allows you to track the same ship across multiple sailings.

Workflow

1. Create the Vessel record first.
2. When creating a Voyage, select this vessel from the dropdown.
3. Reuse the same vessel for multiple voyages over time.
4. If you update vessel names, remember changes may affect all linked voyages.

Best practice
Register all vessels that your shipping lines operate or that you coordinate with for cargo transportation. This creates a complete fleet directory for voyage planning.
